There is a detailed guide to<a href=\"http:\/\/www.networkedmediatank.com\/wiki\/index.php\/Encoding_Guide_for_DVD_to_H264\"> do it manually<\/a> here. There is also <a href=\"http:\/\/handbrake.fr\/\">Handbrake<\/a>, which i&#8217;ve seen mentioned a few times too.
