{"id":194,"date":"2009-11-30T19:16:36","date_gmt":"2009-11-30T09:16:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thedragon.kicks-ass.org\/blog\/?p=194"},"modified":"2011-02-08T16:42:40","modified_gmt":"2011-02-08T06:42:40","slug":"bd-ripping","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thedragon.kicks-ass.org\/?p=194","title":{"rendered":"BD ripping"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Good <a href=\"http:\/\/forums.whirlpool.net.au\/forum-replies.cfm?t=1018696&amp;p=4\">thread on Wirlpool<\/a> about BD ripping, plus <a href=\"http:\/\/forum.slysoft.com\/showthread.php?p=166910\">Clown_BD<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mediasmartserver.net\/wiki\/index.php\/Clown_BD\">description<\/a> also check out <a href=\"http:\/\/www.networkedmediatank.com\/showthread.php?tid=1786&amp;page=1\">ToNMT UI<\/a> and its <a href=\"http:\/\/www.networkedmediatank.com\/wiki\/index.php\/ToNMT_UI\">update<\/a> for ripping out a ts.<\/p>\n<p>Some info on BD the NMT Formus about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.networkedmediatank.com\/showthread.php?tid=14172\">1080p using Handbrake<\/a> and\u00c2\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.networkedmediatank.com\/showthread.php?tid=25960&amp;page=1\">720p using Handbrake<\/a> and some good info on the <a href=\"http:\/\/forum.handbrake.fr\/viewtopic.php?f=14&amp;t=9258\">Handbrake Forum.<\/a> and another <a href=\"http:\/\/www.networkedmediatank.com\/wiki\/index.php\/Advanced_eac3to_Remuxing_of_Blu-Ray_and_HD-DVD_to_MKV\">guide on Blu-Ray ripping<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The PCH doesnt like more than 5 Reference Frames for DVD and 4 for BD, and only 3 B-Frames (not sure if this is for both DVD \/ BD) as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.networkedmediatank.com\/printthread.php?tid=24198\">per this post<\/a> and how to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.networkedmediatank.com\/showthread.php?tid=5073\">calculate it here<\/a> based on the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/H.264\">x264 doco<\/a>. While this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.networkedmediatank.com\/wiki\/index.php\/Encoding_Guide_for_DVD_to_H264\">good encoding guide<\/a>, suggest that the pch can handle Pyramidal B-Frames.<\/p>\n<p>I also found this<a href=\"http:\/\/www.digital-digest.com\/articles\/x264_options_page2.html\"> guide on the different x264 options<\/a> and what they can be used for, and some that are considered more up to date <a href=\"http:\/\/mewiki.project357.com\/wiki\/X264_Settings\">here<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/avidemux.org\/admWiki\/index.php?title=H264\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Found another <a href=\"http:\/\/www.avsforum.com\/avs-vb\/showthread.php?t=1033822&amp;highlight=blu-ray+mkv\">good guide<\/a> here, i&#8217;ve found ripping subs is an issue, so i thought i outline my process below<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Rip with ClownBD or ToNMT or RipBot264 (not sure which is better, i think ClownBD as it extracts all components) Convert and DTS\/Core to AC3-448 due to problems with Audio.<\/li>\n<li>use SubRip to OCR the Forced subs, save as <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">.srt<\/span><\/li>\n<li>use BDSup2Sub to save the Forced sub&#8217;s to idx\/sub (vobsub). <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mediasmartserver.net\/2010\/03\/31\/mkv-mania-clown_bd-mkvmerge\/\">Looks like there is a bug in the PCH<\/a>, and you need to convert the subtitles down to a smaller size (PAL), ( Probably worth keeping all sup\/idx\/sub\/srt files)<\/li>\n<li>Use Chapter Grabber to load the Chapters from the ClownBD extract and rename them then save them to xml.<\/li>\n<li>Convert M2ts to MKV using Handbrake<\/li>\n<li>Use MKVMerge-GUI to add in the Subs and Chapters and merge into one mkv. (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.networkedmediatank.com\/wiki\/index.php\/Advanced_eac3to_Remuxing_of_Blu-Ray_and_HD-DVD_to_MKV\">Some details on the Wiki<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>If you want to Backup to DVD the original BLueRay, then use tsMuxeR-GUI and Split when re-muxing from the de-muxed sources.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Good thread on Wirlpool about BD ripping, plus Clown_BD description also check out ToNMT UI and its update for ripping out a ts.
